echoradia is the surreal combination of spinning wheel, weaving loom, electronics, and saxophones played by Kelly Ruth and Allison Balcetis. Performing together since 2019 and based in Treaty 6 Territory in Edmonton, theirs is a loosely structured, improvised practice. Since the beginning of their work together they have performed in person and in perpetual virtual worlds.
Kelly Ruth’s solo practices includes in person performance and extensive virtual world building and online performance, using contact microphones and effects pedals on her weaving loom and other related tools. Allison Balcetis’ practice is based in chamber music-making in several groups across genres, composed and improvised. She relishes working with emerging and established composers to create works for saxophone that innovate and codify new norms for how the instrument can sound.
