Rolled steel, metal chains, rubber grommet, and violin bow
Wing Instrument extends x/o’s ongoing inquiry into embodied duality, tracing where sound and structure, movement and stillness begin to blur. Suspended in air by chains, the wing shaped metal plate hovers in a state of potential; an instrument or appendage, something almost of the body yet held apart from it.
The gesture of bowing its surface unfolds as tension: pressure, friction, a drone of resistance and release. In this suspended exchange, sound and performance lingers as a question, carrying the echo of something reaching, restrained, and still resonant.
