Designed by Zoe Jordan
This instrument is inspired by the rainstick and attached to the body, such that the playing of it will generate its own dance or movement vocabulary. While I expect to further experiment with other materials for different sound qualities and effects as well as aesthetic considerations, the current iteration is primarily made of PVC pipe, steel nails and mung beans.
About the Artist
I am a movement and performance artist from Vancouver, exploring ‘duets’ between myself and my material surroundings: the landscape, natural or built, and/or physical objects. I am interested in sensory and aesthetic inquiry and am passionate about improvisational work, a literal ‘meeting the moment’ which bypasses the intellect, relying on some other, embodied sensibility.
