Anti-Resonant Body

Designed by Mark Wickstead

72” X 1.5” X .75”
Oak, contact piezo mic, machine heads, guitar strings, violin bow

Anti-Resonant Body is inspired by traditional instruments; the haegeum from Korea, the Chinese xiqin and Japanese shamisen. These traditional instruments served as a starting point only in the design of Anti- Resonant Body. Aesthetic decisions have been made with disregard to their influence on sound. The form of this instrument is intentional. The sound will be a surprise.
